Implantation under partial loss of teeth
Implantation under partial loss of teeth has certain features and requirements. At the stage of planning, the number of missing teeth and the degree of atrophy of alveolar ridge (the place where the teeth previously housed) is taken into account. Before implantation, I make a surgical template that will help positioning the implant geometrically correct.
With the loss of 7-8 molar it is recommended to install 1implant, 6-8 molars are made up with 1-2 implants, absence of 5th to 8th teeth are compensate with 2-3 implants, and the teeth from 4th to the 8th with three implants. The implants are placed at a distance of 1.5 mm to the tooth and 3 mm between themselves.
The alveolar ridge should have a thickness of 6-7 mm and a height of not less than 8 mm to anatomically important areas. If the bone volume is insufficient it is necessary to resort to its increase (see section "Recovery of lost bone"). It is not recommended to combine teeth and implants with one orthopedic construction, as this leads to a short-term service of the latter.
Implantation under partial loss of teeth is usually accompanied by a medical sedation.
